Like a warrior in a sword duel, X-Caliber stands tall against anything put in its path, but there is nothing medieval about his style. He is bold, daring and brings a slap-in-your-face personality to his game. Every time he steps up to the microphone, his intense voice and potent lyrics let you know that he means business. His grimy tales are textured with controversy, as he is not all too concerned about being politically correct. X-Caliber has shown a willingness to tackle prickly issues of relevance to life and he gets a certain kind of thrill when shit is being stirred up. A son of a U.S. Marine, X-Caliber describes himself as an “editor of the street” and claims that he represents a global hustle mentality having had the opportunity to live around the world and experience different cultures. He was born into the game at the age of 10 after being inspired by the ground-breaking hip-hop film “Wild Style.” The film gave him insight into individuality, non-conformity, and expressions through art—all of which are elements channeled in his music.
X-Caliber is the CEO/President of Grimy Entertainment. This up-and-coming solo artist makes up one-half of the group Grhyme Infantry with New York counter part Jay Black. He has lent his talent to artists such as Jay Black, 8th Wonder, Gawdbless, Jahfus, Vic Vodka & P-Man, Bigstuff, and of course Brougham Camp artists. X-Caliber is also dabbling in the film industry with an independent film that he is writing, directing, producing and starring called “A Gangster and a Gentleman” due for production in early 2005.
Using his music as an instrument of combat, it is no wonder that his name is X-Caliber—a derivative of the word Excalibur, the sword of King Arthur. This talented rap artist truly gives a whole new meaning to the saying, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” X-Caliber has proven to be an individual with a transcendent artistic quality that could very well carry his career to superstardom. He has a way of entering your psyche with a realness that defies the stereotypical views of rappers.
With the recent release of Brougham Camp’s Guerilla Movement 3, the anticipated release of his album Grimy Renaissance, a feature film in the works and plans of touring overseas, X-Caliber is in control of his own destiny and looks forward to the future and the possibilities that it holds for a creative genius that he is.
